Gem and Jewelry Institute of Thailand (GIT) was established in 1991 as a government organization with the goal of promoting the gem and jewelry industry in Thailand. Over the years, GIT has become a globally recognized institution and has expanded its services to include education and training, research and development, certification and standardization, and promotion and marketing of Thai gems and jewelry.

History:

  • Established in 1991, GIT is a government organization established with the goal of promoting the gem and jewelry industry in Thailand.

  • In the 1990s and early 2000s, GIT focused on providing education and training to industry professionals, as well as conducting research and development projects to improve the quality of Thai gems and jewelry.

  • Over time, GIT has expanded its services to include certification and standardization, and promotion and marketing of Thai gems and jewelry, both domestically and internationally.

Services:

Education and Training: GIT provides training and education programs for professionals in the gem and jewelry industry, including courses on gemology, jewelry design, and marketing.

Authentication of Organic Gems:

  • When it comes to Burmese Amber, GIT uses a combination of scientific methods and industry expertise to test the authenticity of the gemstone.

  • GIT employs gemologists who have extensive knowledge of the physical and optical properties of Burmese Amber and use this knowledge to conduct a thorough examination of each stone.

  • GIT also uses scientific testing methods such as ultraviolet fluorescence, refractive index, and density tests to determine the authenticity of the amber.

  • In addition, GIT has a comprehensive database of known Burmese Amber specimens, which helps to identify the origin of each stone and ensure that it is natural.
